The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) in Cape Town, South Africa, announced this week that Elvira Dyangani Ose has been appointed as its artistic director effective October 1.

Concluding a 15-month search, Dyangani Ose’s appointment comes after the sudden and untimely loss of Zeitz MOCAA’s late Executive Director and Chief Curator of six years, Koyo Kouoh, who died in May 2025. Dyangani Ose was among the five women jurors that Kouoh, who was named chief curator of the 61st Venice Biennale before her death, had appointed for the Golden Lion awards.
