Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) have been left deeply concerned by the behaviour of their new foster daughter in Coronation Street.
Last week, Tim welcomed estranged cousin Richie Parkinson (Nathan Sussex) into his home, against best pal Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and his wife’s better judgement.
Perhaps he should’ve listened to them, as when he later went to return his wallet, it appeared that Richie had murdered his wife. He had blood splattered across his shirt, and her lifeless body was on the floor in the kitchen.
It soon came to the Metcalfes’ attention that his teenage daughter, Lucy (Anya Dewin), would be without a home.
In today’s episode, social worker Ruth (Amy Drake) contacted Tim to say that her foster placement had fallen through and that it would take some time to find a suitable family. Although Sally was sympathetic, she knew that they already had their hands full with the Michaelis children.

Despite that, Tim offered Lucy a place, and when she arrived, a furious Sally was forced to crack a smile.
As Ruth explained that Lucy was suffering with grief and trauma, and that she’d need extra support. Sally was unsure whether they’d be able to cope with her, unaware that Lucy was listening in from upstairs.
Later, when she went to fetch her for dinner, she noticed that the teenager was missing. Fortunately, she hadn’t gone far and was found chatting to Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) at the bus stop.
While Sally and Tim believed they’d made some progress with her, it soon became clear that they’d bitten off more than they could chew.

Lucy asked to visit Richie in prison, and when Sally reminded her that it wasn’t yet possible, the youngster charged off and said they couldn’t stop her.
Will Sally and Tim be able to cope with further outbursts, and what will the dynamic be like when the Michaelis girls return to Weatherfield?
