A teenager was charged with attempted murder after a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a stabbing in downtown Montreal earlier this week, police said Thursday.

Montreal police said the suspect, 17, was arrested Wednesday in LaSalle and appeared in Quebec youth court Thursday morning. He also faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police were called to the intersection of Dorchester Square and Peel St. in the Ville-Marie borough at around 10 p.m. Tuesday following a report of an armed assault.
