Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz Brings Hope and Solidarity to Children at Tacubaya Pediatric Hospital in Mexico City
As part of his commitment to social causes and future generations, Mexican champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz visited the Tacubaya Pediatric Hospital in Mexico City on Thursday, sharing moments of joy, hope, and solidarity with patients and their families.
The visit is part of the ongoing commitment of the World Boxing Council, through its WBC Cares community outreach program, and its champions to initiatives that create a positive impact on society and bring the values of boxing—discipline, strength, perseverance, and solidarity—to the communities that need them most.
During his visit, Cruz toured the infant care unit as well as the burn unit, where children and teenagers between the ages of 1 and 17 are receiving treatment for burns of varying severity.
The Mexican boxer spent time with the young patients, listened to their stories, and offered words of encouragement, once again demonstrating that sport can be a powerful tool to inspire and support those facing difficult circumstances.
“This is a difficult situation, and we wish these kinds of circumstances didn’t exist. What fills my heart is seeing the happiness on the children’s faces because of what we brought them and simply because of our presence,” said Cruz.
“I’m a father of two. I’m an uncle. And I see the courage and resilience of all those parents. My duty was to give them at least a small moment of joy.”
For WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, actions like these represent one of the most meaningful expressions of the spirit of boxing beyond the ring.
“The true spirit of a champion is demonstrated not only inside the ring, but also when they have the opportunity to bring hope to those who need it most. Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is an example that great champions can use their voice, their heart, and their presence to inspire our children,” said Sulaimán. “The World Boxing Council deeply recognizes and supports these efforts because we know that a moment of happiness, a word of encouragement, or a visit can mean so much to a child facing such a difficult situation.”

Cruz will return to the ring on Saturday, September 19, when he faces Puerto Rico’s Néstor Bravo in defense of his WBC Interim Super Lightweight title as part of a Premier Boxing Champions event that will be broadcast on DAZN from Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
