Formula 1 and Disney are accelerating their successful “Fuel the Magic” collaboration, announcing a multiyear extension through the 2028 Formula 1 season and adding Disney and Pixar’s iconic Cars franchise to the partnership for the first time.

Originally launched in 2025, Fuel the Magic has combined Formula 1’s global reach with Disney storytelling through fan experiences, merchandise, digital content and charitable initiatives. The renewed agreement extends the partnership beyond its original term while bringing fan-favorite characters from Pixar’s Cars universe into Formula 1’s expanding entertainment portfolio.

The centerpiece of the announcement is the arrival of Lightning McQueen, who will make a special appearance at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, creating one of the most notable crossovers between motorsports and popular culture.

The partnership was unveiled during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where fans received a first look at the new Disney and Pixar Cars x Formula 1 merchandise collection. The lineup includes apparel, collectibles and die-cast vehicles, with products debuting online before a broader global rollout later this month.

Since its debut, Fuel the Magic has become one of Formula 1’s most visible fan engagement initiatives. Highlights have included appearances at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, merchandise activations at the Chinese Grand Prix, F1 Academy collaborations featuring Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, and a record-breaking Make-A-Wish charity auction that raised more than $200,000 through the sale of a Mickey Mouse-inspired racing helmet signed by Formula 1 drivers.

Formula 1 Chief Commercial Officer Emily Prazer said the partnership has demonstrated the potential of bringing together two globally recognized brands through creativity and storytelling.

For Disney, the addition of Cars creates a natural connection between two passionate fan communities connected by racing, speed and competition.

With Formula 1’s popularity continuing to grow worldwide, the expanded partnership signals a commitment from both organizations to create new experiences that reach beyond the racetrack and introduce new audiences to the sport.
