The Alien: Earth website has become quite extensive in terms of features and details about the series. It’s recently been updated with a new section called “Inside Alien: Earth”
Here you can find information about the world of the show, as well as a behind the scenes look at the weaponry, locations, special effects, production design, and costumes of the series.
At the top of the feature page is a world map displaying the mega-corporation territories in the world of Alien: Earth.
In 2120, five corporations wield the power of nations.
The section we particularly found interesting was The Armory, where Lead Armorer Benjamin Clarke talks about the task of creating the futuristic weaponry of Alien: Earth. Clarke was part of the production with Bapty, who created the weaponry for the original Alien trilogy.

“I was there representing Bapty [weaponry supplier for the entertainment industry], who handled the weapons in Alien, Aliens and Alien 3. As a team from the get-go, we knew it was important to get it right, and that began with going back, understanding what was done before, growing the concepts and working with the production team from there to really help tell the story Noah Hawley [Creator, Executive Producer, Writer, Director] needed to share.”
We also have an official name for the Prodigy Corporation’s bullpup style pulse rifle: The MCS-X Pulse Rifle:

“When we joined the project, we were immediately asked whether we could design a new weapon for Prodigy,” Clarke recalls. “There were two criteria: it needed to be a bullpup (magazine and receiver behind the trigger mechanism) and inspired by the classic M41A pulse rifle. Both of these made perfect sense. Being a bullpup design made it the textbook platform for security forces that operate in tight urban spaces and often within vehicle.” Taking inspiration from the M41A pulse rifle was yet another example of Hawley and the crew’s commitment to honoring the Alien franchise. The resulting creation was the Modular Combat System Mark X Pulse Rifle, or MCS-X Pulse Rifle for short.
Clarke expands on Prodigy’s MCS-X Pulse Rifle, “From the outset, I wanted the weapons we conceptualized and built to follow the traditional Bapty style of building over existing weapon systems; a guide that helps keep the weapons feel grounded and real.” Clarke continues, “We were asked for a single weapon but ended up effectively offering three; the Modular Combat system was designed to be an adaptable pulse rifle variant that could have its components switched out to modify it for any situation.”
Bapty posted a closer look at the MCS-X Pulse Rifle to their social media.
There’s a lot more detailed insight in the section from Production Designer Andy Nicholson, Location Manager Tunyod Kulviroj, Costume Designer Suttirat “Anne” Larlarb, Head of Department Hair Sanna Kaarina Seppanen, Head of Department Makeup Connie Lynn Parker, and VFX Supervisor Jonathan Rothbart.
Head on over to the Inside Alien: Earth section of the official site to delve into all the latest info on the series.
We previously also reported on an immersive panoramic environments feature of the website, and more of those have since been added as well.
