Singer-songwriter highlighted at South Surrey venue

Those who missed seeing The Wheat in the Barley in recent performances at Club 240 (The Crescent Legion) have another chance.
The White Rock-based Celtic/multicultural, multi-instrumental folk band group will return to the venue (2643 128 St.) on Saturday, Aug 29.
The 8 p.m. performance will highlight the group’s compelling blend of traditional, popular and original songs.
And ‘Wheaties’ founder Steve Gidora said another noteworthy feature of the upcoming performance will be the opening act – legendary White Rock singer-songwriter Jordan Carrier.
Gidora pointed out that Carrier – a founding member of Fear of Houses, Jordan Carrier and the Soviets, and the celebrated local band Cozy Bones – also won the 2008 Fox Seeds (Vancouver Seeds) competition for his Soviets project, while his single “Club People” from the album Absence Of Wonder became a breakout local hit on 99.3 The Fox.
Featured most recently in the Songwriters series of concerts at Club 240, co-produced by Neil Harnett and Gidora, Carrier will also be opening for The Spoons on Aug. 27 as part of White Rock’s TD Concerts at the Pier series.
His Aug. 29 appearance opening for the ‘Wheaties’, however, will be “an opportunity for his many fans to hear his music in a more intimate setting,” Gidora said.
Admission is $25, at the door or reservations can be made by e-transferring to Gidora at sgidora@hotmail.com
