He’s leading laps. Richmond, like Iowa last week, is one of Bell’s best tracks. Toyota has dominated the short tracks in the new 2026 package. Downgrade practice. Results matter more. Also, Bell was limited in practice due to inspection failures. Who knows the track? Which team understands the package? That’s the indicator, and it points toward Bell.

For better or worse, this is an era of parity in the NASCAR Cup Series. The Gen-7 stock car has leveled the competition. Even with the updated 2026 short-track package, the field is level. The results bear this out because 750 horsepower isn’t a gamechanger. It matters, but cautions, pit strategy and track position mean more. Blaney is fast. The Team Penske Fords are on top of this package. They can control speed, but not scenarios or strategy. This Pick6 asks Blaney to lead one-quarter of this race. His car is fast, but that’s a tall ask. There are too many variables, and too many competitive cars.

This isn’t a car show. It’s a race. The No. 24 Hendrick Chevy may not be the fastest on paper, but that’s on paper. Byron has raw speed and plenty of talent. He has track position in an era of NASCAR racing where track position and pit stall are paramount. If Byron doesn’t make a mistake or suffer misfortune, then he should easily clear this number.
