Montreal police say a 44-year-old woman who was found dead inside a Saint-Michel apartment on Saturday afternoon was murdered.
Police were called to the residence around 1:45 p.m. to perform a wellness check. When they arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive woman, as well as her partner, a 51-year-old man, with stab wounds to his upper body.
On Sunday morning, police confirmed the woman was murdered.
The man is now considered a suspect in the investigation, according to a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Johany Charland.
No arrest has been made so far. The suspect was brought to the hospital with life-threating injuries but is now in stable condition, police said in an update Sunday evening.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after police arrived at the apartment on 9th Avenue near Crémazie Boulevard E on Saturday.
Police say the woman had also been stabbed though the extent of her injuries is yet to be determined.
Her death marks the fifteenth homicide in Montreal this year.
