Dave Portnoy is just as fixated on the WNBA as the rest of us, as things heat up ahead of the playoffs.

Love it or hate it, the WNBA’s exploding popularity is being fueled by chaos. Every single off-court mess, from the arena shirt censorship to the transgender debate, ends up attracting millions of new eyes.

People who didn’t care about women’s basketball six months ago are suddenly tuning in just to see what happens next.

Meanwhile, outspoken media personalities like Dave Portnoy are constantly jumping on the drama, calling out the league’s hypocrisy and throwing gasoline on every single storyline.

The WNBA might be trying to manage the madness, but all this noise is driving massive ratings and huge engagement, whether they like it or not.

And Portnoy himself has been showering some positive light over the WNBA of late amid all the madness, showing just how much of a fan he has become.

Speaking via the Wake Up Barstool account on X, Portnoy shared just how much of a fan he has become of Caitlin Clark and how he even tries to watch every single Indiana Fever game.

He said: “Like I’m obviously a gigantic Caitlin Clark fan, to the point where if people aren’t familiar with it, I literally flew to watch her play LSU in a rematch game in Auburn. I fell in love with her game. So I’m biased, because when I see these two on the schedule, I almost watch every Fever game if I can.”

“You probably had 10 clips come out of that game that are both hilarious and awesome, there were some foul calls on Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese doing this, for 2 hours it dominates the world of sports, which is pretty impressive.” – @BFW on the Fever/Dream game pic.twitter.com/z7qhqOVpUH

Caitlin Clark’s impact has completely reshaped the WNBA’s commercial landscape. Her games consistently achieve multi-million-viewer broadcasts that peak past 2.6 million, while her presence on the road forces opposing teams to relocate to massive, sold-out NBA arenas to meet demand.

That drawing power triggered a massive 756% explosion in online league merchandise sales and served as a catalyst behind the WNBA securing its landmark $2.2 billion media rights deal.
