Truong Xuan, a consumer in Hung Yen Province, found wide price differences while shopping for the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold8, which carries an official price of VND47 million.
Major electronics retailers were offering discounts of around VND5 million, bringing the price down to roughly VND42 million. Some chains lowered it further to about VND39 million by combining trade-in bonuses with loyalty-program incentives.
Smaller retailers offered even better deals. By giving up bundled gifts, Xuan could buy a new Z Fold8 for around VND37 million. On major e-commerce platforms, models listed at VND40–42 million could effectively cost just over VND36 million after store and platform vouchers were applied.
The other two foldable phones released in Vietnam on Aug. 8 are seeing similar markdowns.
The Galaxy Z Flip8, officially priced at VND32 million, is available for around VND23–24 million, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra can be found for about VND43 million, roughly VND10 million below its listed price.
As a result, real-world prices of the Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 are now close to those of their predecessors.

A representative of electronics retailer CellphoneS said the Z Fold8’s redesigned screen proportions have emerged as one of its biggest attractions this year.
The chain sold around 1,100 units during the first three days, up 70% from the corresponding period last year.
Demand has been concentrated heavily on the larger foldable models. The Z Fold8 accounted for about 60% of sales at CellphoneS, while the Z Fold8 Ultra made up 35%, leaving only a small share for the Z Flip8.
Samsung Vietnam said pre-orders for the new generation were 2.4 times higher than for the previous lineup, with the Z Fold8 accounting for more than half of orders.
Strong demand has also been reported in Samsung’s home market. The 2026 Galaxy Z series generated 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea, surpassing the previous record of 1.38 million units set by the Galaxy Note10 in 2019 and the 1.35 million pre-orders recorded by the Galaxy S26 earlier this year.
The Galaxy Z8 series made its global debut at Samsung’s Unpacked 2026 event in London on July 22 and went on sale in Vietnam on Aug. 8.
