Veteran outfielder Trey Mancini is retiring from MLB.

Mancini, who had last appeared in 2023, signed with the Los Angeles Angels in the offseason. He was released in June after playing in five games.

“I knew after I got DFA’d that unless I somehow got claimed that I was gonna be done, but I wanted to take some time and not retire immediately,” he told MASN’s Roch Kubatko.

The 34-year-old added he was glad he attempted a comeback, even if it didn’t amount to much.

“Now that I had that experience this year, it feels good to officially retire,” he said.
