A business in Ottawa’s west end went from an illegal cannabis dispensary to an illicit tobacco dispensary, according to Ottawa police.

In a release, officials say on Aug. 12 they searched a business called My Legacy, of which there are several in the city, including in Nepean. During the investigation, police said they found a large quantity of illegal tobacco products, Canadian currency and vape pods.

The case opened in 2025, then, police detailed the investigation surrounded it as an illegal cannabis store.

“During the investigation, the business, operating as My Legacy, transitioned to selling illicit tobacco products,” the press release reads.

Ottawa police laid charges against one employee in connection with the sale of illicit tobacco products.

Items seized from the store include:

191,180 cigarettes

2,210 cigars

2,033 ZYN tins

4,158 grams of loose tobacco

1,010 vape pods

$8,663 Canadian currency

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible, police said.
