Fire caused significant damage at Surrey Alliance Church on Friday, Aug. 14.

Flames ripped through the south wall and roof of the sanctuary, 13474 96 Ave.

“We would like to thank the Surrey Fire Department and the Surrey Police Department for responding last night and taking care of the building to the best of their ability,” the church Facebook page posted the following afternoon.

“Pastor Mike (Knott) and Pastor Nick (Parker) will be leading us in a special prayer service tomorrow morning (on Sunday, Aug. 15) in the parking lot. If possible, please bring your own lawn chair(s). 96 Ave Kids will be showing a movie downstairs in the Fireside Room during the Service.”

The Now-Leader has reached out to church staff for more details.

Surrey Alliance Church has “a long-standing history in Central Surrey dating back to 1960, and we are committed to discovering how Jesus is leading each of us to love and serve our community today,” says a post on surreyalliancechurch.org.
