Jimmy King (Nick Miles) is quietly carrying a huge burden in Emmerdale.
It comes ahead of the character’s death, which was first reported in May. His exit will coincide with the return of Jimmy’s ex-wife Sadie (Patsy Kensit), whose comeback was announced within the same week.
Radio Times was aware of his forthcoming departure, though ITV declined to comment.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw previously teased that Sadie’s return was “explosive” and “guaranteed to shock”, which could be alluding to Jimmy’s untimely demise.
Over the past few weeks, a couple of problems have arisen in his marriage to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). She was worried that things had gone a bit stale within their relationship, and this was only cemented further when he arranged a date in The Woolpack.

It wasn’t quite the slap-up meal in town that she’d expected.
To make matters worse, she then found some jewellery in his golf bag and assumed this was for another woman. He quickly explained that he’d hidden it before he had it engraved.
In today’s episode, Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) was excitedly discussing his dream wedding day in Bali. He’d already planned what he was going to wear and how the day would pan out, despite not actually being engaged.
The conversation then moved over to Nicola renewing her vows, which she didn’t think was a very good idea. She thought the idea was a little bit cringe, though eventually came to terms with the fact it could be just what Jimmy needed to renew the spark.
She had no idea that her husband couldn’t afford to pay for such an event. He’d just been offered a lucrative deal by Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly), who wanted to buy the Home James haulage company.

They even agreed that he could stay managing the business so that Nicola didn’t know of the sale.
Jimmy said he needed time to think about it, despite a letter arriving that morning detailing his mortgage arrears.
Will he be forced to sell-up, and will he tell Nicola?
