Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is finally shaking off nearly two decades of PlayStation 3 exclusivity. Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, headlined by MGS4, launches on August 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots makes its first port since its original 2008 release, alongside Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker with up to six-player online gameplay. Old Snake’s swansong had been locked to Sony’s much-maligned Cell architecture since launch, making Vol. 2 the first chance most players have ever had to run it on anything else.

What’s Bundled Inside Master Collection Vol. 2

The collection pairs MGS4 with the HD Collection version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, while the Game Boy Color spin-off Metal Gear: Ghost Babel rides along as extra content rather than a standalone purchase. On PlayStation’s own storefront, Sony confirms Ghost Babel will be selectable within the Bonus Content section of the Collection.

Konami’s own product page lists the archive material players get alongside the games: a Screenplay Book containing in-game text from the two premier titles, a Master Book detailing the story and characters, a Digital Soundtrack, and a Database covering the vast lore from Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid 4. On the technical side, the port also brings higher resolution and frame-rate limits, customizable controls, and the METAL GEAR SOLID 4 Database to modern hardware.

Buyers who only want the headline acts aren’t forced into the full bundle. MGS4 and Peace Walker will also be available as separate digital purchases, though picking that route means missing out on Ghost
