A man and a woman are now facing charges for a crime spree following an investigation that began on July 25.
Their first run in with police came after the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment (HRD) received reports of someone stealing fuel at a Fall River gas station. Officials later learned that a woman had filled a Honda Civic before leaving without paying.
Next, just a few days after on July 28, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) were called and a stolen Honda Civic was reported. Police would later learn that a man and woman had borrowed the car on July 20, but never returned it.
Now in August
In a news release, the Nova Scotia RCMP says that officials received reports of multiple thefts in businesses. Sackville, Fall River, Upper Tantallon, Bedford, Hubbards and Greenwood were all places where there were reported thefts over a two-week span. In each incident police say a woman was identified as the suspect, and she could be seen leaving in the stolen Honda Civic in some of the thefts.
Later, on Aug. 10, an officer with the HRP saw and went to attempt a traffic stop on the stolen Civic. The vehicle then continued moving northbound on highway 118, without making a stop for police.
The next day, officials received reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at a convenience store in Rawdon Gold Mines. Officers were able to locate the stolen Civic, with a man and woman asleep inside. Police say when they made an attempt to arrest them, the driver backed up into a police car before driving away at high speeds.
Three days later, on Aug. 14, the RCMP HRD were called to a business after a reported robbery in the 3600 block of Hammond Plains Rd in Upper Tantallon. Through their investigation, officials learned that a man and woman filled up a shopping cart and left before paying. After responding to the call, an officer was able to immediately locate the two suspects moving items from the shopping cart into the stolen Honda Civic. When trying to arrest the woman, she quickly left in the vehicle, with police adding that she nearly hit a store employee on her way out.
Officials say they learned the man and woman were located in Falmouth. On Aug. 19, police services teamed up to arrest and charge the pair after an almost month-long spree of thefts and fleeing.
As a result of the investigation
The stolen Honda Civic was recovered; now officials say the pair is facing a long list of charges.
Nicole Adele Spence, a 24-year-old from Dartmouth is facing charges of:
Robbery
Resisting arrest
Dangerous operation of a conveyance (two counts)
Flight from a police officer (two counts)
Theft of a motor vehicle
Theft (five counts)
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (four counts)
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Leslie Burton Gray, a 33-year-old from Dartmouth is being charged with:
Robbery
Resisting arrest
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Theft of a motor vehicle
