Top WNBA DFS Picks and Lineup Strategies for August 22
Most Saturday slates in the WNBA feature at least one matinee matchup, but the league features three games this Saturday that all begin in the evening. The first contest between the Fever and Liberty includes a pair of teams jostling for playoff positioning, and both teams are in the mix to host a first-round series. The Sun and Sparks have both been eliminated from postseason contention, but they still have several players who could provide DFS value Saturday. The Mercury are on the cusp of elimination but could get Kelsey Plum back for their matchup against the Dream.

($7,000) vs. Fever
Ionescu has had a few up-and-down performances this season, but her salary falls $1,800 below Caitlin Clark (back), who has the platform’s highest salary at $8,800 for Saturday. However, Ionescu has hit her stride in recent outings, posting at least 31.6 FD points in three consecutive appearances, a span that includes a performance against the Fever in which she posted 32.3 FD points.

Rhyne Howard, Dream 
($9,900) at Mercury
Howard has the 10th-highest salary of any player on DraftKings on Saturday, but she’s been a stellar contributor for the Dream in recent weeks. At her current salary, she would have provided at least 4x value in five of her last seven appearances, including two outings with over 5x value. She posted 35.0 DK points during her first appearance against the Mercury this season before logging 50.5 DK points against Phoenix on Aug. 5, and she has plenty of potential Saturday.

Aliyah Boston, Fever 
($8,200) at Liberty
Although Boston is officially questionable for Saturday’s game, she has the potential to provide significant value if she gets the green light to suit up. She’s posted at least 32.1 FD points in nine consecutive appearances behind well-rounded production, and she’s generated at least 35.3 FD points in each of her last three outings. Assuming she doesn’t face limitations Saturday, she seems like a relatively safe option despite her lofty salary.

Angel Reese, Dream ($11,500) at Mercury
My DraftKings picks for Saturday inadvertently feature a Dream stack, but Reese has the potential to provide plenty of value alongside Rhyne Howard against the Mercury. Reese has generated at least 41.0 DK points in five consecutive appearances, and she’s logged at least 34.5 DK points in each of her two outings against Phoenix this season.
Mid-Range WNBA DFS Picks
FanDuel
Kahleah Copper, Mercury 
($5,800) vs. Dream
Copper is in the midst of a bounce-back season during her third year in Phoenix, but she still has a mid-tier salary on FanDuel for Saturday’s slate. She’s been held below 20 FD points in two of her last three appearances but is coming off a 19-point, seven-rebound, one-assist performance Sunday against Portland that was good for 28.9 FD points. Even if she doesn’t have her strongest performance against Atlanta, she has a relatively high floor with some upside at her salary.
DraftKings
Saniya Rivers, Sun 
($5,200) at Sparks
Rivers’ salary hovers between the mid-tier and value range, but regardless of how she’s classified, she has the potential to exceed expectations against the Sparks. She’s coming off back-to-back appearances with at least 27.0 DK points, a span that includes an appearance against Los Angeles. Rivers’ recent production has been slightly higher than her season-long averages, but I think she’ll have opportunities to maintain her momentum Saturday.

Naz Hillmon, Dream ($4,800) at Mercury
There are several Dream player with solid DFS value for Saturday’s slate, including Hillmon with a relatively low salary on FanDuel. She’s coming off her second-best DFS performance of the season, as she finished Thursday’s game against the Sparks with 38.5 FD points. Even if she doesn’t reach that level of production Saturday, she’s provided at least 4x value at her current salary in three of her last five outings.

Madina Okot, Dream ($4,700) at Mercury
Closing out the Dream stack on DraftKings, Okot has posted at least 21.0 DK points in two of her last three appearances. Okot has a much lower floor than some of my other picks on Saturday’s slate, but her recent usage has been encouraging for DFS purposes. She has a reasonable enough salary to warrant consideration Saturday, and rostering her would create more flexibility in other areas.
