In a significant development for Peel Region, a loaded handgun was seized by police during a traffic stop in Brampton, marking the 112th illegal firearm removal this year. The incident occurred on August 17, 2026, at around 2:20 a.m. near Cedarbrook Rd. and Edgewater Ct., close to Bramalea Rd. and Sandalwood Pkwy. E. The Peel Regional Police stopped a vehicle with three occupants. One of the passengers, later identified as Navjot Singh, 29, of Innisfail, Alberta, provided a false name and attempted to flee on foot.
He was later apprehended and found to be wanted on a warrant in Alberta. Along with Singh, Harkomal Singh, 29, and Mohobbatbir Randhawa, 23, both from Brampton, were arrested. The vehicle search revealed a loaded illegal handgun, leading to multiple firearm-related charges against the trio.
