The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group today announced that Shawn Burke will be leaving his role as Vice President, Football Operations of the Ottawa REDBLACKS.
Burke joined the REDBLACKS in 2021 and has led the club’s football operations since that time.
“This is a difficult decision because I have a lot of respect for Shawn,” said OSEG CEO Mark Goudie. “Nobody can question how hard he has worked or how much he cares about the REDBLACKS. Shawn has embraced this organization and this community, and he has given an enormous amount of himself to the job. I am very grateful to him for that commitment.”
“At the same time, our football results have not been good enough. Ultimately, I have a responsibility to make changes when I believe we need a different approach, and I have concluded that a change in our football leadership is necessary.”
“Shawn has been a dedicated member of the REDBLACKS organization over the past five seasons. I want to thank him for the professionalism, hard work and commitment he brought to the role, and I wish him and his family the very best.”
OSEG will be providing a further update on the REDBLACKS football operations structure shortly.

Burke a rejoint le ROUGE et NOIR en 2021 et dirige les opérations de football du club depuis cette date.

En fin de compte, j’ai la responsabilité d’apporter des changements lorsque j’estime qu’une approche différente s’impose, et j’en suis venu à la conclusion qu’un changement à la tête de notre équipe de football était nécessaire. »
« Shawn a été un membre dévoué de l’organisation du ROUGE et NOIR au cours des cinq dernières saisons. Je tiens à le remercier pour son professionnalisme, son travail acharné et son engagement dans cette fonction, et je lui souhaite, ainsi qu’à sa famille, le meilleur. »
