Ryan Blaney — winner: “It was a good call after our issue on pit road. We did two at the end to try to hopefully get the lead, and we did.
It was a long, long run to the end, the longest run we had. Just tried to manage my stuff. Knew the four-tire guys would pressure me eventually. Bubba came on hard there. Just tried to manage the lap traffic and manage the tire, not make a mistake. What a cool race. Fun day starting in the rain. Ended up being beautiful day. Everybody came out, thanks for sticking with it. You always want to continue momentum. Team Penske has been on a heck of a tear the last couple months. Props to everybody at Team Penske who is keeping their head down, working hard.”
Bubba Wallace — second: “Yeah, that’s the thing I kind of hate about this place. Last time we ran good. One of the worst driving cars we ever started. The worst driving car we had this year and I finished second. Just been saying it all week long, I think I finally know, throw out the field I’m chasing, which is hard to go as a race car driver, searching for the right front, it’s not really ever there. We fought, man. Had a nice day just by myself, regrouping. Got the head right. I knew I had to fight all day. That’s what it takes. Where it starts is with this 23 team. Man, they pushed me to be the absolute best. I fail them a lot, but they stick behind me. It’s super cool.”
Josh Berry — third: “I slid a little long in the last stop. Pit stop was a little slower, too. Gave up too much track position early. Fought hard to get back through there, man. That was everything I had. Everything I could do today. It was pretty good, I’ll say that, too. No, it was a lot of fun. Just great job by these guys. The car was really solid. Managed the rain, drying track, all the different conditions we had to stay up front like we did was a good day. Well, I don’t know if he knows this or not, but I was driving my ass off every lap. It didn’t get much more out of me. Made me overdrive it a couple times. Yeah, I don’t know. Did everything I could, for sure. I was a little rougher than I wanted to be today, but it just comes down to, I mean, everybody knows the situation I’m in right now. All these guys I’m racing with right now have a lot of respect for me. I think they understand the situation that I’m in. Yeah, I mean, just time to go. If you do it long enough, it comes back around. I think in this scenario, they’ll understand.”
Christopher Bell — fourth: “Yeah, I mean, it was another strong performance by our 20 team. Ultimately we didn’t have enough to compete with the frontrunners. Get out of here with a top-five finish, it was a really good day, good and solid day. We had the mishap on pit road, then the team was able to persevere and finish about where we should have. Really happy with the fourth place today. Just lacking a little bit right now. (On the pit crew mishap) Yeah, it was certainly tough. My signal to go is the jack dropping. On a two-tire stop, they’re supposed to be gone across the front of the car. Whenever the jack dropped, I saw he was still there, then I saw him kind of flopping around in my rearview camera. I didn’t feel my car jump up in the air, so I knew I didn’t run him over. I hope he didn’t get his fingers stuck in the wheel or anything. It’s alarming and very eye-opening that these guys jumping across pit wall, they’re risking it. I’m super grateful for all of the pit crew members, specifically my team. They do a really good job. I’m glad Blake is OK.”
Kyle Larson — fifth: “I thought the balance of our No. 5 Chevrolet in dry conditions were pretty similar all race. I feel like our best run was after the green flag stop, and then even after that last run, it wasn’t bad until the very end. I think fourth-place on back were really struggling. Overall, it was a great day for this team. We got the Stage 1 win, a fifth place in Stage 2 and a fifth-place finish at the end. It was a lot better overall weekend than we’ve had in a while. We scored a lot of points, which is good way to head into the regular season finale.”
Ty Gibbs — sixth: “Yeah, my 54 guys did a great job over there. Our 54 Monster Energy Camry was great. We just needed to be a little bit better there, but I need to be a little better too. Obviously, a lot better results than last year and the year before that too. So, we’ll take it and we’ll keep going on. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helps me out, my trainers, JB, Cooper, and everybody. We’ll just keep going for it and look forward to the playoffs.”
Denny Hamlin — seventh: “It was tough, we were just pedestrian today. We just didn’t quite have it, but obviously we had that in the beginning where we lost track position early. On the pit stop thing, just miscommunication there, but ultimately a decent crawl back. I live week to week, and I focused on this track and I’m just like we got to get better here for sure, we haven’t had it over the last couple. These are our bad days, bad-ish. But I feel good about where our team is right now, everyone is kind of clicking well and we don’t have a whole lot of weaknesses. We’re just not as strong as the Penske cars on these types of racetracks, but Martinsville we are good, Phoenix we’ve been good, just over the last few years this has not been as strong as those guys. And when I say strong, I mean top five, top seven, so it’s something we can work with. The mile and-a-half’s are certainly something that’s been our strength for a couple of years now. I look forward to getting the Chase started and seeing where it goes.”
Ryan Preece — ninth: “We did a really good job. I felt like the race, the majority of it went our way. We had a really good car and before that last caution came out it looked like we were gonna go around the 23. We just got by the 21, so for whatever reason that last set of tires was just loose and that’s what killed us because I felt like on restarts, navigating through traffic and doing all of those things, we did everything right. I’m on offense. I’m not playing defense, so we’ll go into Daytona swinging and we’ll keep digging.”
Noah Gragson — 10th: “It was a great day for our Front Row Motorsports team. It didn’t look good there in the rain. I think we were like the last car on the racetrack, but we continued to fight all day and came home with a top 10. I’m really happy about that and really thankful for all the guys. It’s a fun race. I used to hate this place and now I’ve really enjoyed it the last couple of years, so I had a lot of fun today. Grant is a first-year crew chief, and I think it’s no secret that it took a little bit of time, but I feel like we’re really meshing and jiving right now. I’m really proud of where we’re at as a team and I want to just keep on making steps and progress and keep it going.”
Austin Hill — 24th: “Up and down day for our Chevrolet. When it was raining before the race, I was actually excited to see what we could do on the wet weather tires. Our car was good on the initial fire off. The entry was secure and we rolled to the center pretty well. We ended up gaining 13 spots and drove all the way to the top-15 in the first stage. The balance stayed consistent through the first two stages, but when we got to the second half of the race, the right rear started burning off it and our car would slide on top of the rubber. It was loose with the rears and then create a four wheel slide until the car settled down. The guys kept working on it and we came home 24th. It could have been better, but proud of the effort overall. We’ll keep fighting.”
Michael McDowell — 16th: “Such a chaotic day here in New Hampshire, we had good pace in our Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and were working toward the top 10, then we started to fight a pretty significant vibration on the right rear. Once we recovered from that we had an equipment interference penalty that almost made our bed for the day. Thankfully, we caught a caution at the right time to get back on the lead lap and fight for a decent finish. It isn’t where we want to be, but we showed promise and some good fight.”
Shane van Gisbergen — 20th: “It was a tough day for what we needed. Being that fast on wet weather tires and falling that fast shows that we were missing something to have grip on the slick tires. Hopefully there are some learnings on that because Connor (Zilisch) and I just went backwards as fast as we could when the track dried. It’s just a disappointing way to end the day. We would love to have more of a cushion heading into Daytona (International Speedway), but the No. 60 (Ryan Preece) did a great job today. I don’t think the No. 2 (Austin Cindric) gained much on us, but we would love to have more heading into a big unknown race next weekend.”
AJ Allmendinger — 23rd: “It was just a hard-fought day for us. We got behind getting a lap down early. And then I thought we did a good job to use strategy to get both laps back and race with some people. The car on the long runs was okay. It was, you know, kind of low 20s, maybe high teens competitive on the long runs, but just couldn’t go anywhere on restarts. So, I just kind of had to hang there. It was a tough day, but it could have been a lot worse. So I thought we got pretty much a lot out of it compared to what it could have been.”
Ty Dillon — 27th: “We fought hard today. We just didn’t have the grip everyone else had. We would fire off pretty fast, but the right rear would go away after about 50 laps. There were some positives to take away today, and we will be ready for Daytona. We have run well on superspeedways this year, and we’ll be ready Saturday night.”
Austin Dillon — 32nd: “We didn’t get to show what I thought the No. 3 Chevrolet was capable of here today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. We fought hard to stay on the lead lap in Stage 1 and were making the adjustments needed to help combat the tightness I was experiencing in the center, but I had great drive and my entry was dialed. I was driving forward, but unfortunately, we got caught up in on track contact at the start of Stage 2 and sustained left rear damage that sent us to pit road to replace a tow link among other things, putting us several laps down. The team never gave up and we fought until the end, continuing to work on the car’s alignment issues and improving the looseness I was experiencing. We’ll take what we can from this experience and look to rebound next week in Daytona.”
Ross Chastain — 36th: “There was an issue internally in the engine. There was oil coming out of the exhaust pipe. I felt the No. 1 Chevy losing power and just rode it out during the caution, but unfortunately, we couldn’t continue. It’s just an unfortunate end to our run towards the Chase. The speed has gotten better, so we’ll hopefully keep moving forward on that. That’s the important part. With the things in our control, we were able to make them better through the summer. I’ve learned that’s really tough to do in the NASCAR Cup Series. We did get better, but we’ve got a ways to go.”
