A large tree that has fallen across Dundas Street E. near Sherbourne Street is blocking traffic in downtown Toronto Monday morning.
Toronto police said they responded to reports of a downed tree early Monday in a post to social media platform X. Power lines are down and fire services are also on site, according to the post.
TTC service routes 505 and 506 have been diverted, and there is no service on Dundas Street between Spadina and Broadview avenues.
Dundas Street is closed between Seaton and Sherbourne streets, say police.
There is no estimated time for roads to reopen.
“City staff have responded and are working with the TTC to remove the tree and ensure public safety,” said James Nowlan, executive director of environment, climate and forestry at the City of Toronto.
“We take this evolving situation very seriously and ask members of the public to report hazardous trees and branches to 311 to help ensure staff can investigate and remove hazards for the safety of all.”
