Hundreds of residents are being notified that they will soon need a new family doctor in the City of Merritt and vicinity.
Dr. Donald McLeod, announced via email to patients that after 47 years of family practice in the Nicola Valley, that he would be retiring as of October 15.
In his email he noted that after more than 100,000 hours of hospital emergency calls, 2000 deliveries and multiple procedures, he was closing his practice due to health and family reasons.
McLeod added that patient files will be stored safely and securely by RSRS and will be available upon request from the company.
McLeod also thanked his patients and staff for support and trust over the years he served the community.
