MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Monday was the grand opening of the new Middleton pickleball courts.
The courts are part of the city’s new Lakeview Park Tennis and Pickleball Facility at Lakeview Park.
The eight-court site features six dedicated pickleball courts and two tennis courts, replacing 50-year-old courts with a modern, ADA-accessible layout.
The city said that the original four tennis courts were built between 1971 and 1973 and was beginning to crack, had areas of exposed asphalt and the color coating was deteriorating.
The cost to replace the original courts is approximately $1 million, the city said.
“This facility is a community space,” Middleton Mayor Lisa Janiro said. “It’s a place where people can be active, learn a new sport, spend time with family and friends and connect with their neighbors.”
The courts are expected to serve the community for the next half-century, and if you want to reserve a court, reservations begin Aug. 31.
