Along Brooklyn’s Sunset Park waterfront, MADE: Bush Terminal is home to a growing community of artisans, designers, and industrial pioneers shaping the future of New York City’s creative economy. To support these urban makers, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) revitalized the historic public building after decades of restricted access, creating productive workspaces designed to fuel local innovation alongside economic benchmarks – including a projected 165 permanent jobs and 2.6 billion USD in economic impact over 30 years. Designed by nARCHITECTS, the MADE (Manufacturers, Artisans, Designers, and Entrepreneurs) campus provides 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 30,000 square feet of public event programming. Public Records, a multifaceted music venue that originated in Gowanus, Brooklyn will program the ground floor as a music driven community space. The MADE campus serves as a collaborative incubator where local talent, craft-based enterprises, and technical innovators work side by side, cultivating shared knowledge, sustainable practices, and long-term economic resilience.

Managed by NYCEDC, the project reflects a long-term strategy to modernize historic municipal spaces into drivers of inclusive design and growth. First established in the late 19th century as the largest multi-tenant industrial campus in the United States, Bush Terminal played a pivotal role in New York’s maritime history. Today, NYCEDC brings a new chapter to the waterfront site with advances in environmental stewardship, social equity, and active local engagement. Offering adaptable spaces for emerging enterprises, the initiative ensures that industrial investment directly fosters both job creation and community-centered development.

MADE: BUSH TERMINAL SCALES SUNSET PARK’S CREATIVE INDUSTRY
At MADE: Bush Terminal, a curated mix of craft-based and high-tech tenants is redefining contemporary fabrication on the Brooklyn waterfront. Lighting manufacturer Stickbulb expands its presence across campus to over 27,000 square feet in Buildings A and B, consolidating its production, design studio, and showroom into a unified circular design footprint. 3D-printing hub Makelab operates alongside design studios PELLE, Aripack, and MushLume. Together, these studios combine technical expertise with bio-based material exploration to push the boundaries of modern object design.

This creative momentum extends across the broader Sunset Park ecosystem, where the neighboring Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT) hosts audiovisual pioneer Audible Difference, clean-tech B-Corp EcoLogic Solutions, logistics provider GoLocker, and cinema technology leader Otto Nemenz. Complementing this industrial mix, NYCEDC launched the BATWorks climate innovation hub alongside a new cultural partnership with Public Service. With the transformation of 1,000-capacity space into a dynamic venue for live music and large-scale art installations, the project anchors MADE as a landmark model for civic design, material circularity, and creative industry.
