A Brampton man ran outside to hug his mom after discovering he had won nearly $90,000 on a Lotto 6/49 ticket.
Paris D. of Brampton won a second prize worth $89,623.20 in the July 11, 2026 draw.
He discovered the unexpected windfall in a fairly ordinary way — by scanning his ticket at a store.
“I ran outside to my mom, gave her a hug and a kiss, and screamed, ‘We just won $89,000!’” Paris recalled while collecting his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
His mom was in shock.
The win is expected to make a difference for both of them, Paris said.
“This win will make life easier for me and my mom,” he said. “It’s perfect!”
Paris already has plans for the money. He intends to put some of his winnings toward home renovations and a new car.
“I’m so happy,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Bartley Smoke Plus on Bartley Bull Parkway in Brampton.
OLG has changed the way it identifies lottery winners in its public announcements. Winners are now generally identified by their first name and the initial of their last name, rather than having their full last name published. For Paris, however, the big prize wasn’t about chasing a multi-million-dollar jackpot. A ticket scanned at a Brampton store turned into nearly $90,000 and an excited sprint outside to tell his mom.
