Montreal council rejects calls to suspend institutional ties with Israel

Montreal city council voted overwhelmingly in favour of an amended motion from the Official Opposition on Monday, expressing ‘solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as all civilian victims of hostilities’ in the Middle East. The original motion called on the city to suspend its institutional ties with Israel, but that clause was removed.
