A man wanted in connection with the 2022 murders of two Mississauga men at a music studio in Toronto was arrested this past Saturday in southwestern Ontario near the U.S. border, police say.

The suspect, also a Mississauga man, was arrested by Windsor Police on Aug. 22, Toronto Police said on Tuesday afternoon.

Darriel Thompson, 25, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and a single count of attempted murder. He was scheduled to appear in Toronto court earlier today.

Minyali Wur, 24, and Chudier Reat, 20, both of Mississauga, were shot to death on Jan. 3, 2022. The two men were found by police at about 8:45 p.m. that night suffering from gunshot wounds inside a music studio on Thirtieth Street in west Toronto, north of Lake Shore Boulevard West and just east of the Mississauga border.

The larger building at and next to the address also housed offices and apartments.

An injured woman was also found by police at the scene. All three victims were taken to hospital, where the two Mississauga men succumbed to their injuries. The woman survived the attack.

The killings immediately sparked a manhunt for Phillip Grant, 34 at the time and from Peel. Police didn’t say where, specifically, Grant was from, only that he had “strong ties to both Mississauga and Brampton.”

Later in 2022, police named two other suspects — a Mississauga man and a Brampton man — in addition to Grant as being wanted in connection with the slayings.

Camarr Brown, 23 at the time, of Brampton, reportedly turned himself in to police later the same year while Darriel Thompson, of Mississauga, remained on the run from police until this past Saturday.
