100 skateboarders, Moto X and BMX athletes converge on the Old Port
From September 11 to 13, JACKALOPE Montréal invites action sports enthusiasts to Jacques-Cartier Pier in the Old Port of Montreal to wrap up its 2026 season at home. Following successful editions in Ventura, Virginia Beach and Mississauga, which drew a combined 200,000 spectators, the JACKALOPE Series promises an unforgettable weekend in the city. This edition will put skateboarding in the spotlight with its impressive Vert competition, BMX demonstrations and, for the first time at the Old Port of Montreal, Moto X sessions featuring world-class athletes.
“Since its first edition in Montréal in 2012, JACKALOPE has grown into a global series that continues to expand and attract an enthusiastic international community. We are proud to say that JACKALOPE was born here, as the city enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide,” says Micah Desforges, founder and president of TRIBU, producer of JACKALOPE. “The City of Montréal’s confirmation earlier this summer of three-year funding demonstrates not only JACKALOPE’s importance within the city’s event programming, but also the festival’s strong international appeal.”
This global reach is particularly significant as skateboarding will once again be featured at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, in the world capital of skateboarding. It is also worth noting that Montreal will host the third stop of the Olympic Q-Series in June 2028, which will feature skateboarding, among other disciplines.
Athletes to watch
As always, the Vert ramp will be a major highlight, with a structure comparable to those found at the X Games. Throughout the weekend, amateur and professional athletes will compete for a total of $21,000 in prize money, distributed equally between men and women. You can catch skateboarding legend Bob Burnquist, newly named Global Ambassador and Strategic Partner of the JACKALOPE Series, at the Best Tricks session on Friday evening. Other athletes to watch include:
Collin Graham: United States | A JACKALOPE Series regular who impresses the crowd at every edition.
JD Sanchez: United States | A fierce competitor and winner of JACKALOPE Montréal 2025, Ventura 2026 and Virginia Beach 2026.
Jojo Jones: United States | The 2026 men’s Golden Ticket winner, he took first place in Mississauga in July.
Mizuho Hasegawa: Japan | At just 15, she has already won 13 X Games medals, including three golds. She finished second at JACKALOPE Mississauga 2026.
The race is on to crown the season champions
This Montreal edition will be crucial in determining the 2026 season’s overall champions. The four winners will receive fully paid trips to attend all JACKALOPE Series events in 2027. As of today, the current points leaders are:
Women’s Vert: Juno Matsuoka (Japan)
Men’s Vert: Jojo Jones (United States)
Women’s Street: Soobeen Park (South Korea)
Men’s Street: Micky Papa (Canada)
More than just skateboarding
For the first time at the Old Port of Montreal, this edition will feature Moto X demonstrations showcasing spectacular aerial tricks. Among the athletes taking part, Canadian Christian Martinez will be one to watch closely during these sessions. BMX and calisthenics demonstrations, a discipline that uses only bodyweight to perform acrobatic movements, will also add excitement to the programming. Throughout the weekend, the site will come alive with DJs, food trucks and numerous local exhibitors.
