A Brampton teenager has been released after spending about eight months in custody over a jewelry store robbery at a Barrie shopping mall last Christmas.
The 16-year-old pleaded guilty in connection with the Dec. 19, 2025, robbery at Charm Diamond Centres inside Georgian Mall.
The teen, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was credited for time already served and released to family members with a suspended sentence.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery, wearing a disguise and possession of a dangerous weapon.
As part of his sentence, the teen is prohibited from being near Georgian Mall and must comply with conditions during his probation.
Five teens were arrested in connection with the incident.
One suspect was arrested at the mall, while four others were arrested after fleeing the area in a vehicle that later crashed in Essa Township.
A second teenager, a 15-year-old from Toronto, previously pleaded guilty in connection with the robbery and was released from custody earlier this summer.
The remaining accused are scheduled to return to youth court in Barrie next month.
