A police operation was underway to dismantle a drug lab at a condo building in Montreal’s Griffintown Wednesday.
During the operation which began at 11 a.m., about 50 residents from two floors of the building were evacuated as a precaution, according to Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. The underground parking in the building was evacuated as a safety measure.
Brabant said that a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were arrested during the operation.
“There’s going to be some analysis that’s going to be done by Health Canada so we’ll be able to give you more information on the substance that was found,” Brabant added.
The operation was expected to several hours or even days, police said.
