QUEBEC — The ongoing tariff crisis with the United States appears to be benefiting Coalition Avenir Québec Leader and Premier Christine Fréchette as Quebec heads into an election, a new poll suggests.
With Fréchette expected to launch the campaign this week, a Léger poll done for Le Journal de Montréal shows support for the CAQ has crept up three percentage points since an earlier August poll (Aug. 7-9), to register at 23 per cent.
The Parti Québécois still leads the pack with the support of 30 per cent of the sample, which is the same score it had a month earlier.
