One person was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an assault north of Brampton.

The assault happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday outside of a business near the intersection of King Street West and Queen Street North in the Bolton community of Caledon, the OPP says.

Police say one victim was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition following the incident. No details about the age or sex of the victim have been disclosed.

And while investigators say there were “numerous witnesses” in the area when the assault happened, police are asking anyone who saw the incident and hasn’t yet spoken with officers to come forward.

Officers identified a suspect and say a 32-year-old man from Etobicoke was arrested and charged on Tuesday, police say.

The OPP says Oleh Milchenko, 32, of Etobicoke has been charged with aggravated assault.

The accused was being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Orangeville scheduled for Tuesday, however, the OPP only released news of the arrest on Wednesday.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, aggravated assault occurs when a suspect “wounds, maims, disfigures or endangers the life” of a victim. The offence carries a prison term of up to fourteen years.
