SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga Men’s Basketball has landed a commitment from another sought-after transfer, this time in former Florida & Princeton guard Xaivian Lee, who was given the opportunity for a fifth year of collegiate eligibility due to a preliminary injunction in California.
Lee, who after one season at Florida went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, participated in the NBA Summer League with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In five games in Las Vegas, Lee averaged 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.
Originally from Toronto, Lee began his collegiate career with three seasons at Princeton, where he was a starter for his sophomore and junior seasons. Over his three years with the Tigers, Lee was a two-time All-Ivy League selection averaging over 12 points and four rebounds per game.
Transferring to Florida for his senior season, Lee started all 35 games for the Gators in the 2025-26 season, which ended in an upset loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Iowa. The 6’4 point guard averaged 11.6 points per game despite seeing a slight dip in shooting percentages in the transition from the Ivy League to the SEC.
Gonzaga currently has three point guards committed for 2025-26 roster, though with the chaos of litigation happening surrounding fifth year eligibility, none are currently signed. Dayton transfer Javon Bennett recently had his path to a fifth year halted due to a federal court’s decision last week, and French guard Nathan De Sousa, who has spent the last five years playing professionally in his home country, is still waiting on a determination if he will be able to suit up for the Zags.
Lee, as a result of his preliminary injunction, is eligible to play as of this moment. However, the volatile environment of college athletics means anything can change at a moment’s notice.
