A man was injured in a stabbing early Thursday morning in Mississauga.

Emergency crews responded to a man seeking medical assistance for a stab wound at approximately 4 a.m., Peel Regional Police told INsauga.com.

Police believe the stab wound was sustained during an altercation that occurred sometime overnight in the area of Cawthra Road and Lakeshore Road East in Lakeview.

The 33-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound, police said.

Police said he was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and how the injury was sustained.

At this time, there is no information to suggest an ongoing threat to public safety, police added.

Police did not provide suspect information.
