The quarterback questions that have dominated Steelers training camp will soon be answered. Tonight’s preseason game in Buffalo is expected to feature a heavy dose of Will Howard and Drew Allar. By 6 p.m. ET Sunday, the 53-man roster is due, and the final decision will be official.
How many quarterbacks will the Steelers keep, and how will they be ordered on the depth chart? Coach Mike McCarthy, publicly at least, said that decision has not yet been made. However, when asked on Tuesday if he could find enough reps for four quarterbacks — with Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph alongside Howard and Allar — McCarthy appeared more than open to this possibility.
💬 “I don’t think it would hinder (the opportunity to develop) at all. We’ve talked extensively about the importance of the whole quarterback room. If you have four quarterbacks in that room, especially the quality we have currently, I think it only enhances what the regular season would look like.”
McCarthy said the collective bargaining agreement has fewer time restrictions during the season. In that way, he’d be able to do more with his QB School before and after practice than he’s permitted to currently.
