The Huawei Mate XT 2 is expected to introduce health-monitoring features. If true, it would be a really significant upgrade over the previous-generation models. Here’s why adding health management could prove especially compelling.
As per a Weibo tipster’s reporting, Huawei plans to integrate health-related features into the Mate XT 2 triple-foldable. This particular add-on will allow users to detect issues or monitor health without the watch/band requirements.
Health features have mainly been a part of Huawei smartwatches or fitness bands rather than phones or tablets. The company implements a variety of sensors like ECG, PPG, Body or Skin temperature, X-TAP, and more to keep an eye on your health.
But it seems Huawei is now bringing the health monitoring capability to its next-generation tri-fold. The leak suggests the firm could include an ECG sensor that may enable users to track the electrical activity of the heart and evaluate its rhythm.
The company has used a similar trick with the Pura 90 Pro models. Official inputs hint that the flagship supports an interactive software feature that lets you measure your heart rate by simply placing your finger on the rear camera module or flash.

Pura 90 Pro generally uses optical sensing and signal processing to detect blood flow fluctuations (pulse waves) when you place your finger over the camera bump.
Making this more interactive, Huawei has used an animated virtual pet on your home screen that reacts and displays your real-time heartbeat pace.
And the latest leak suggests that the Huawei Mate XT 2 triple-foldable could continue to use this tech feature. It may use the photoplethysmography principle to measure the heart rate data and deliver accurate reports within 10 seconds.
If that happens, the upcoming tri-fold may replace your watch for health monitoring.
