Eddie Kingston says he is cleared to return to the ring after suffering what he called “a little bit of a scare with my health” that saw him pulled from last Saturday’s AEW Collision.
Kingston was set to compete against rival Claudio Castagnoli in a Continental Challenge Cup quarterfinal, but was pulled by AEW head Tony Khan on Friday after he failed to be cleared.
Kingston is set to challenge Hechicero Friday in Arena Mexico for the CMLL Heavyweight title. It’s Kingston’s first ever appearance for the promotion and in the famed venue and against his opponent.
During a Thursday media call, Kingston was asked about his health status and the veteran said that he feels “very good” and that he feels “1000 times better” than he did last week.
“It was a little bit of a scare with my health. I got checked. Everything is good and I got cleared. Once I was cleared, it was, ‘Alright, let’s get to work.’ I’ve been dying to get back to work,” he said, while not stating what the actual injury was.
The 44-year-old’s last match was on August 8 in an AEW Continental Challenge Cup win over Jake Doyle. As of this point, he hasn’t been announced for any participation at Sunday’s AEW All In.
