They’re taking over a spot left by a different coffee company.
A new coffee shop will be unveiled soon in Kitsilano.
Unveil Coffee Roasters, as the name implies, is a coffee roaster. For the last year, founder Spencer Dunnison has been working on Salt Spring Island roasting beans and building the brand. Unveil’s coffee has been for sale online and in some local shops and cafes.
Now, Unveil is preparing a move to the mainland.
“Our first brick-and-mortar is coming soon to Vancouver/Kitsilano. We’ve been a little radio silent of late with our energies focused on making this next step a reality,” reads a post from earlier this summer.
That brick-and-mortar spot will be at 2815 West Broadway. Earlier this year, Lumiere Cafe shut down its location in the same space.
Unveil’s plans have been kickstarted with a fundraising campaign online, which saw more than $11,000 raised for their new shop.
Along with serving high-quality coffee, Unveil also has some other goals.
“These include: living wages with no tipping, a Bring-Your-Own-Cup program with no single-use cups, along with infinitely recyclable aluminum tins for our retail beans, tables made of recycled chopsticks, and coffee purchasing transparency,” reads the Kickstarter campaign page.
No opening date has been announced, but a soft opening sometime in September is planned. At the same time, Unveil is still shipping its coffee across Canada.
