Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has been voted the best airport in North America for 15 consecutive years — and it really shows.
A woman travelling from Vancouver this week got the royal treatment at B.C.’s biggest airport, with staff going above and beyond to get her caffeine fix, without ever leaving the ground.
Sara Wahedi was flying out of Vancouver on Thursday (Aug. 27) and realized she wouldn’t be able to enjoy a Tim Hortons coffee and muffin before her flight. She no longer lives in Canada, but loves it (and is still a citizen), and clearly loves the popular coffee chain.
“No [YVR]…why is there no Tim Hortons in the international terminal?,” she wrote in a post on X.
“Breaking my heart right now.”
The Civaam founder then shared a photo of another cafe, asking, “Are we serious right now?”
No…. @yvrairport why is there no Tim Hortons in the international terminal?
Breaking my heart right now.

YVR rises to the occasion
And then YVR really showed up for the traveller.
“Oh, my God. This is why Canada is the best country in the world. YVR’s team found and brought me Tim Hortons and my coffee order to the gate,” she wrote in a follow-up post.
“Best airport ever! Canadian hospitality!”
Wahedi shared a screenshot of a direct message YVR staff sent to her on X, which reads: “Hello. Are you still there? What’s your Tim’s order?”
In the message, she replied, “No way, YVR. A pumpkin spice muffin and a black coffee, one cream! I’m beside Gate 67!”
The post has been liked over 4,000 times, with numerous people sharing love for the Vancouver airport, while others remark that they could never expect that treatment at their local one.
A YVR spokesperson told Vancouver Is Awesome that the airport monitors its social media 24/7 to respond to passenger needs immediately.
“Our team saw the passenger’s post and replied to her right away. She then replied back to us quickly, which enabled us to move quickly and get her a coffee before she boarded her flight,” the spokesperson says.
“It was a small gesture and just one example of how YVR is always looking for ways to make the journey through YVR a little easier and more enjoyable for passengers.”
