Quebec Conservative Leader Éric Duhaime unveiled the first part of his party’s tax-cut plan Friday, promising a typical Quebec household would ultimately save $11,166 over five years.

The announcement came a day after Quebec’s provincial election campaign began. In making the case for his plan, Duhaime cited Quebec’s tax burden, mortgage pressures and food-bank use as evidence households are struggling with the cost of living. The Gazette examined some of the key claims he and his party made Friday.
