Mike Rupp isn’t holding back when it comes to the Dylan Larkin situation.
According to the NHL Network analyst and former NHL forward, a trade could change everything for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
Rupp delivered the strong take on NHL Network during a discussion about the future of the Detroit Red Wings center.
”If they would be able to land that, Montreal Canadiens retroactively give Kent Hughes the GM of the year because we sit there we talk about the team that salary capwise, talentwise, future-wise it’s the best position moving forward it’s the Montreal Canadiens.”

That comment follows a similar take from TSN’s Bryan Hayes, who also said that Dylan Larkin landing in Montreal would make a lot of sense.
Dylan Larkin’s friendship with Cole Caufield could give the Canadiens an edge
Larkin, 30, recorded 67 points last season with a Red Wings team that missed the playoffs, and his relationship with management remains strained.
He still has his trade request in place today.
The biggest obstacle remains his no-trade clause, which gives Larkin full control over any potential deal.
It’s also worth noting that he is friends with Cole Caufield, a detail that could work in the Montreal Canadiens’ favour if he opens the door to that possibility.
Despite all the media excitement, there is currently no indication that Larkin is seriously considering Montreal as his next destination.
