A multi-jurisdictional retail theft investigation is leading to multiple charges for a man from Mississauga.
In April, police launched Project Bishop, an investigation targeting a man investigators are calling a prolific offender allegedly responsible for numerous thefts from major retailers across parts of Ontario.
The two month investigation linked him to at least 38 theft-related incidents across Durham, Peel, York, Hamilton, Halton and Niagara regions.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man from Mississauga on June 19.
Officers searched two homes in Welland and Mississauga and seized $35,000 worth of stolen merchandise, including clothing, cosmetics and personal accessories.
Anthony Orlando Monteith, 49, of Mississauga is charged with 24 counts of theft under $5000 and 14 counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Investigators continue to look into further offences where they believe Monteith may be a suspect and anticipate further charges.
