BERKELEY, Calif. –  The California women’s soccer team earned its first win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating LMU 2-1 at Edwards Stadium.

Miriam Hils opened the scoring for the Bears in the 33rd minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Emelia Warta to give Cal a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Lions tied the match in the 66th minute, but Cal responded just six minutes later. Elhom Khursand put the Bears back on top in the 72nd minute with a penalty kick goal. LMU was unable to find the equalizer, as Cal secured its first victory of the season.

Emilia Eriksen earned her first career start for the Bears, while Amelie Hoppe made her season debut.

The Bears remain at home next Thursday, Sept. 3, to face Cal Poly at Edwards Stadium. Fans can join the Bears for another home match or watch live on ESPN+.
