It’s safe to say McMahon Stadium loved what they saw on Saturday afternoon.
The Stampeders took down the Ticats 28-23 in thrilling fashion in their second of a three-game homestand to get back into the win column. Running back Dedrick Mills ran home a 49-yard touchdown in the late seconds of the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Pivot Josh Love threw his first CFL touchdown pass in his first start of the season, while receiver Ajou Ajou picked up his first touchdown in the Red and White in the battle.
The win marks number 100 for general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson.

The Calgary offence led by Love started off with a nine-play 47-yard drive. Returning kicker Rene Paredes finished it off with a 42-yard field goal in his first game back in 2026 for the Red and White.

The veteran kicker was called upon four times in the opening half, with his farthest kick coming at 45-yards. The golden boot nailed three field goals in the first half, missing one 42-yard attempt down 10-9 in the second quarter.
The Stamps offence didn’t get going until less than a minute left in the second, Love connected with Brissett on a 55-yard pass to put them in Ticats territory. Then the second-year quarterback found Ajou Ajou in the end zone for the five-yard touchdown to take a 16-13 lead at half.

Fast forward to the fourth quarter, Stamps d-lineman Clarence Hicks picked up his league-leading eighth sack of the season. The pass rusher took Tre Ford back for a loss of 16 yards on the play.

The Red and White went back to the ol’ reliable when they called Paredes to boot a 51-yard field goal to bring the Stamps back down one at 20-19 with minutes remaining to play.

The Stampeders are back at home for their third and final game of their homestand on Labour Day when they clash with the Edmonton Elks on September 7 at McMahon Stadium.
Kickoff for the West Division tilt is set for 4:00 p.m.
