On Sunday, a person was struck by a vehicle on Viscount Road, between Network Road and Highway 409, during a police presence. According to Const. Tyler Bell from Peel Regional Police, officers were initially responding to a report of a disturbance involving two individuals fighting in the roadway. While police were on the scene, one of the individuals was hit by a passing vehicle.
Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not serious. The police have closed the road in the area while investigations continue, ensuring there is no threat to the community. The SIU, which investigates incidents involving police where there is death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault, is now looking into the circumstances surrounding this event.
