A stunning Michael Hage turnaround is taking shape in Montreal

Corey Pronman is at it again with the Montreal Canadiens’ prospects.
This time, Michael Hage is the one getting a rather surprising ranking.
In his “re-draft” of the 2024 class, The Athletic analyst has Hage ranked 24th, even though the Canadiens moved up to select him 21st overall.
That’s a drop of only three spots, which doesn’t look like much on paper. But given the context, it’s certainly surprising.

Almost every observer agrees that Hage has exceeded the expectations tied to his draft position since 2024.
He notably finished fourth in scoring across all of college hockey last season in the NCAA, and he continues to impress a number of experts.

Seeing him slide rather than climb in this re-ranking remains difficult to explain, even for the most critical observers.
This isn’t the first time Pronman has been tough on Montreal Canadiens prospects.
He had doubts about Lane Hutson for a long time, even after Hutson won the Calder Trophy.
Still, the debate surrounding Michael Hage is far from over, especially if he continues to dominate in the NCAA this season.
We’re also very eager to see him with the Montreal Canadiens, most likely in March or April.
