Premier calls byelection for electoral district of Abbotsford-Mission

A byelection has been called for the electoral district of Abbotsford-Mission.
Final voting day is set for Saturday, Sept. 26.
Premier David Eby made the announcement on Saturday (Aug. 29), in a press release.
The seat became vacant when Reann Gasper resigned as MLA for the electoral district of Abbotsford-Mission a week ago.
The Conservative Party announced Gasper’s resignation and leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay Findlay’s intention to run for the seat on Aug. 22. Gasper was elected in 2024, defeating incumbent NDP MLA Pam Alexis with more than 55 per cent of the vote.
People are eligible to vote in the byelection if they are a Canadian citizen, 18 or older on Sept. 26, a resident of the Abbotsford-Mission electoral district, and a resident of B.C. since March 25, 2026.
Eligible voters can register or update their voter information now, online or by phone, or in-person when they go to vote.
Advance voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 to Wednesday, Sept. 23. Final voting day is Saturday, Sept. 26 and voting places will be opened from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
