The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings wrap up their Fall camp today with the Eric Calibaba and Friends Cup. The Top 50 game highlights some of the camp’s best players. They will continue with preseason action starting this weekend, before the regular-season opener on Friday, September 17, in Melville against the Millionaires.

Before the regular season gets underway, the Red Wings will switch out their hockey sticks for golf clubs as they host the alumni Par 3 Tournament on Saturday, September 12. Enjoying the last little bit of warm weather before the frost settles in, Ryder Burns, sales and marketing director for the Weyburn Red Wings, said they’re excited to tee off.

“Another big, big event is our golf tournament that is happening September 12th. A lot of sponsors and supporters of the team come out and have a good time golfing. It’s a par 3, so we have a lot of opportunities to win extra cash too. There’s 10 grand available on every hole for a hole in one. There is close to the pin on every hole, longest puts, etc. And then there’s also an auction after supper and the raffle as well. So, there’s lots of opportunities to win and support the team through auction items, and we got some cool memorabilia this year.”

Spots still available but closing fast

Although spots are extremely limited for the tournament, team and single golfer registration is still available for $700 plus tax for a team and $175 plus tax for a single golfer. The fun starts at 12:00 pm on Saturday and continues through the rest of the day with the auction and supper included. Burns said you’ll have to act fast before they’re gone.

“It’s just a good time. Everyone says they can’t wait for it to happen again next year. You can still sign up for a team. It’s getting pretty close; it’s probably close to 85% sold out. If you want to get a team, got to act pretty fast with how they’re selling so far.”
