Tribute concerts coming to Surrey theatre include Alan Jackson, Adele, ABBA, more

Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre is busy with several tribute concerts in the final days of summer and into fall.
September goes country with Highwaymen Show (a “great outlaws tribute” Sept. 13 with songs by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson) and The Alan Jackson Experience (Sept. 17).
The fall calendar on bellperformingartscentre.com features This is Adele (Oct. 22), local Eagles showcase Take it to the Limit (Nov. 13), ABBA Christmas with ABBA Cadabra (Dec. 4), A Holly Jolly Christmas with Buddy Holly soundalike Zachary Stevenson (Dec. 8), the scripted Walk Like A Man musical celebrating Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons (Nov. 27) and The Music of Hans Zimmer and Others (Dec. 1, film music).
Aaron Halliday began doing a tribute to Alan Jackson 30-plus years ago as a solo artist playing local bars and clubs in the Interior of B.C., while working on his original music.
“In the past 10 years this show has taken new flight,” Halliday reported, “and we are now a six-piece touring band covering Canada, the U.S., Mexico and even Honduras last year, averaging 45 shows a year from April through September. My wife Sharyn handles the tours with us and manages the tour on the road (with ASH Entertainment), and then we spend our winters in Mazatlán, Mexico.”
The Sept. 17 concert is a Surrey first for Halliday’s award-winning tribute.
“The fact that Alan has now retired from touring has brought even more life and demand for this show with dates booked for 2027 from April in Arizona to September In Minnesota as well as shows across North America,” Halliday says.
“The energy is great (and) we bring all of the generational classics like Chattahoochee and Summertime Blues to Remember When and Livin’ on Love to life right before their eyes and ears. This has been a long and wonderful road for a singer-songwriter, originally from a musical family in Nova Scotia, to the international stage as a tribute artist and now an internationally-recognized artist in his own right.”
